Oma’s kitchen
Yellow ceramic frog by the sink with a lime green dish scrubber.
A aqua plastic budgie suspended from the ceiling perpetually in my peripheral vision.
Deep blue embroidery thread on a crisp white cotton wallhanging depicting a butcher, above the kitchen table.
A tiny toothpick holder shaped like a fawn standing in tall bright green grass.
The wide stool snugged in under the table; solid wood legs and upholstery the colour of pine needles.
Breakfast time.

I have no photos from my Oma’s kitchen, and the view from her window was different, but here’s what I see when I wash dishes (not now – most of our snow is finally gone but this is much better looking than the muddy mess we have outside now.)
